Banana & Avocado Home Remedies For Damaged Hair

If your hair is damaged and dull, a hair mask made with bananas and avocados can help restore beauty and shine. Bananas have amino acids that help protect hair from environmental damage and citric acid that makes hair shiny. Avocados contain vitamins A and B6 as well as rich oils that are easily absorbed by the scalp.
Fruit Smoothie Hair Mask
The ingredients of a fruit smoothie hair mask are good enough to eat, and they also will bring out your hair’s natural shine. In a blender, mix half of one banana and half of one avocado with a few chunks of cantaloupe and a few tablespoons of plain yogurt. If you hair is very damaged, break a vitamin E capsule into the mixture. Blend the mixture until it is smooth and rub it into your hair and scalp. Cover your head with a shower cap and let the mixture sit for up to 30 minutes. Rinse the smoothie out with cool water into the garbage disposal to avoid clogging the bathtub drain, then wash your hair with shampoo and cool water. The yogurt and avocado help moisturize your scalp while the acids in the banana and cantaloupe condition the hair to bring out the shine. This mask can be applied weekly as needed.

In a bowl, mash up half of one ripe banana and half of one ripe avocado with a fork. In another bowl, beat a whole egg until it is completely mixed. Add 3 tbsp. milk and 3 tbsp. honey to the egg and stir together well. Add the egg mixture to the banana mixture and mix them in one of the bowls or in the blender. Spread the mask onto your hair and scalp, taking care to get it onto your hair’s roots. Cover your head with a shower cap and leave it for up to 30 minutes. Rinse and wash your hair as with the fruit smoothie hair mask. The extra protein in this hair mask nourishes your scalp and hair cuticles, which helps keep damaged hair from falling out. The mask also is moisturizing for dry hair, and helps prevent flaking. You can apply this weekly as needed.
Moisturizing Hair Mask
Chlorine, sun damage and cold weather can dry out your scalp, making it feel tight and itchy. The aloe in this recipe will soothe your scalp, and the warm towel helps the oils penetrate your skin and hair cuticles deeply. Olive oil adds extra antioxidants that protect your hair and scalp from more damage. In a blender, mix half of one banana, half of one avocado, 2 tbsp. olive oil, and ¼ cup aloe vera gel. Blend the mixture until it is creamy. Massage it into your scalp and spread it over your hair. Cover your hair with a shower cap. Soak a towel in very hot water and wring out as much water as you can, then wrap the towel around your head. Let the mask sit for 20 to 30 minutes until the towel has cooled off. Wash your hair. Apply this hair mask once a month as needed.
